Edward F. Murphy, age 89, of Warwick, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2015, at the Phillip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center in Providence. He was the husband of H. Patricia (Reardon) Murphy for 67 years.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Francis P. and Winifred T. (Kelley) Murphy, he lived in Warwick since 1948. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Murphy was employed by New England Telephone Co. for 40 years, retiring as an assigner in 1986. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Telephone Workers, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, and the Telephone Pioneers. He was a member of Warwick Council #2295 Knights of Columbus.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Daniel E. Murphy of Warwick, three daughters: Michaela A. Scalera (Vincent) of Cranston, Patricia A. Miller (Robert) of East Greenwich, and Kathleen M. Murphy (Roger Chenail) of Woonsocket; a brother, Richard P. Murphy of Warwick; a granddaughter, Katie Scalera Rossi (Anthony); and a great-grandson, Oliver Rossi, of Montrose, California. He was the brother of the late Katheryn Murphy, John E. Murphy, and F. Paul Murphy.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, August 20, at 8:30 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Timothy Church, 1799 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 4 - 7 p.m.

Burial with military honors will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
