Edward F. Rodgers Jr., 70, of Warwick, died April 9, 2012 at Kent Hospital. He was the husband of the late Lois A. (Rossi) Rodgers.
Born in Providence, a son of the late Edward F. and Mildred A. (Hogan) Rodgers, he had lived in Warwick for the past 12 years. Mr. Rodgers worked for Rhode Island Public Transit Authority for 23 years and served as president and business agent for ATU Local 618 for 16 years before retiring in 2004. Mr. Rodgers was the owner of several taverns throughout Rhode Island. An avid sports fan and golfer, Mr. Rodgers volunteered his time for the St. Michael Church golf tournament and many other charities.
He leaves two sons, Richard E. Rodgers and his wife, Maureen, of Ossining, N.Y. and Michael S. Rodgers and his wife, Anne Marie, of North Kingstown; two daughters, Lisa M. Rodgers of Amesbury, Mass. and Pamela S. Rodgers of Newport; a sister, Linda M. Warmsley of Virginia; and six grandchildren.
His funeral will be held April 14 at 9 a.m. from Frank P. Trainor & Sons Funeral Home, 982 Warwick Ave., Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Paul Church, 1 St. Paul Place, Edgewood, at 10 a.m. Calling hours are April 13 from 4-8 p.m. Burial will be in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
