Ellen M. (Carter) Mitchell, 85, of Warwick died Thursday at the Avalon Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Francis J. Mitchell.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late James and Margaret (Cluin) Carter, she had been a long time Warwick resident. Mrs. Mitchell was a health care aid with VNA for ten years before retiring.
She leaves two sons, Frank J. Mitchell and his wife, Carol of Warwick and Robert J. Mitchell and his wife, Patricia of Wakefield; a daughter, Kathleen A. Pierson of Wakefield; nine grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late John T. Mitchell and Dennis P. Mitchell. She was the sister of the late James Carter, Jr., Ann Viera, Eileen Gomes, Richard Carter, Marjorie Bliss, Barbara Dorazio, William Carter and Charles Carter.
Her funeral will be Monday at 10 a.m. from the Frank P. Trainor & Sons Funeral Home, 982 Warwick Avenue, Warwick with a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Clement Church, Long Street, Warwick at 11 a.m. Calling Hours Monday morning 8-10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
