The public is invited to the Warwick Public Library on Sunday, February 26 at 7 p.m. to join filmmaker Craig Dudnick and Warwick Senator Jeanine Calkin for a showing of the documentary film “Alice’s Ordinary People.”

In the 1960s, when Mayor Richard J. Daley’s Democratic machine dominated Chicago politics, Civil Rights activist Alice Tregay started a grassroots movement that would push that machine aside to elect the city’s first black mayor in 1983. The film will show Alice and her fellow crusaders telling the story of how they changed politics in Chicago to give unheard communities a voice. Craig Dudnick will introduce the film, then will brainstorm with Calkin and the audience after the screening about lessons Rhode Island’s activists can take from Alice’s experience.
