“Fly Me to the Moon”

If you were one of the more than 100 people who relaxed on blankets or beach chairs on the front lawn of City Hall Thursday evening, you’d swear Frank Sinatra was performing, as Chris Jason and The Night Life Orchestra played some of Frankie Blue Eyes’ biggest hits, as well as a few jazz numbers. The band is under management of General Reggie Centracchio of the National Guard, who introduced them to the stage, rather, the front steps of City Hall. The Apponaug Area Improvement Association presented the music series, appropriately dubbed Music for a Summer Night, which kicked off in June. According to Derek Anderson, the event’s chair, they’ve raised at least $1,600 for the Association. Funds will be used for two $1,000 scholarships that are awarded annually to a high school student living in the Apponaug area, as well as the upkeep of Brayton Cemetery. (Photos by Jessica A.
