The new Ocean State Theatre Company, which celebrated its grand opening last week, will present a "Foolish Cabaret," following select performances of Neil Simon's "Fools," the opening production of the company's inaugural season.
Following Friday and Saturday evening performances, the theatre's lobby will be transformed into an intimate cabaret space, at which patrons will be entertained by cast members and OSTC staff members while enjoying beverages and late night appetizers, which will be available for purchase from the theatre's lobby bar.
The "Foolish Cabaret" will be hosted by OSTC Managing Producer Joel Kipper, who local audiences will remember from his portrayal as George M. Cohan in "George M!" (2008) and Malcolm in "The Full Monty" (2010) at Theatre By The Sea. Musical accompaniment will be provided by local musicians Lila Kane (January) and Esther Zabinski (February).
"Fools" runs now through Feb. 9 at the Ocean State Theatre's new location at 1245 Jefferson Blvd. Attendance at the performance preceding the cabaret is not required. The lobby doors will open for the cabaret at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person. Reservations are strongly recommended and can be made by calling 921-6800.
Tickets for all productions being presented as part of Ocean State Theatre Company's Inaugural Season are on sale at the box office Tuesday through Friday from 12 to 6 p.m., Saturdays from 12 to 4 p.m., and up until curtain on performance days. Tickets are also available online 24 hours a day at www.OceanStateTheatre.org and via telephone during normal box office hours by calling 921-6800.
