Did you know that the first “Oktoberfest” was held in Munich, Germany in 1810? Did you also know in 2007, celebrants of this centuries’ old tradition consumed almost seven million liters of beer over the course of 16 days? Now THAT is a lot of beer! October and beer go back a long way, and now with the reemergence of autumn’s popular pumpkin beers, it seems as though this pair will continue for years to come.

Pumpkin beers were very popular in colonial New England when beer-loving colonists used pumpkin and squash as their fermenting ingredient. When malted wheat and malted barley became readily available, pumpkin ales largely disappeared from the landscape ~ that is until the 1990s when American craft brewers reintroduced pumpkin beer to delighted fans everywhere! Today, pumpkin beers, with their sweet, robust, full-bodied, and earthy (with a perfect blend of harvest spices) taste can be found right at Warwick’s own Airport Liquors.

As you continue to enjoy these beautiful October days of football games, cool evenings around a crackling firepit, and reunions with friends and family, come to Airport Liquors on Airport Road and pick up some hearty pumpkin beers to add to your own celebrations.

Some of the most popular and highly-rated seasonal beers now available at Airport Liquors include:

* IMPERIAL PUMKING

* SHIPYARD PUMPKINHEAD

* SARANAC – Pumpkin Ale

* LONG TRAIL BRUSH & BARREL SERIES, Imperial Pumpkin (celebrating the art of Vermont Ale)

* BLUE MOON HARVEST PUMKIN ALE

If you are not a fan of pumpkin beers, no worries. There are plenty of other specials available at this friendly, locally owned and operated package store in the lower deck of the Airport Plaza. Check out these great wine options:
