Springtime in New England. Sunshine, flowering trees, warmth. What better way to take in the picnic-y feeling of spring than with a basket of take-out (or dine-in!) sandwiches and salads from the best little sandwich joint in town, the Sandwich Junction on Kilvert Street? This cozy eatery in Warwick has been serving up wholesome, fresh and homemade food for over 33 years, and is ready to kick off the season with its usual fare of daily specials and all-time classic favorites. Take a detour off the beaten track today and visit the Sandwich Junction for the perfect meal to satisfy your craving for spring.

You will find the Sandwich Junction nestled beside the train tracks in an historic building which used to be the Hillsgrove Post Office. Alex Longiaru first opened Sandwich Junction in 1977, and in 1990 his daughter Kathy and her husband Craig Ruginski took over ~ and so the family tradition continues. Their longtime, consistent preparation of made-to-order hot and cold sandwiches, soups, salads, side dishes and daily specials has made them a popular destination for locals and newcomers alike - in fact, when you come, expect a line of devoted regulars who frequent the place for lunch every day.

Now that spring has arrived, the salads (including the traditional potato and macaroni salads) and cold sandwiches are especially enticing. Try one of Sandwich Junction's "American Flyers" with turkey and cheese, just like your mom used to make. Or, if you are feeling a little adventurous, try their Tutto Italiano, a power-packed combination of prosciutto, salami, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato and vinaigrette. Kathy Ruginski and her hard-working team offer up new specials every day, including their popular Buffalo Chicken Sandwich with chicken, lettuce, tomato, and buffalo & bleu cheese dressing on a bulkie roll or their Boar's Head ® Mesquite Smoked Beef Brisket with melted pepperjack cheese and BBQ sauce.

There are also chips and novelty drinks to chose from, including plenty of sodas and Snapple drinks to go around. Don't forget the juicy burgers at Sandwich Junction, as well as a long list of mouth-watering items straight from the fryer! Simply delicious.

Finally, to complete your picnic basket, throw in a decadent homemade dessert such as the popular "Blueberry Dream," a sweet combination of a shortbread crust, a filling of blueberry and crushed walnuts, all topped with smooth cream cheese frosting. Why not try one of their other homemade desserts, including their double chocolate chip cookies, Whoopie pies and "meltaway brownies." Go ahead, indulge . . . you deserve it!

Come cozy up at the Sandwich Junction, located at 86 Kilvert Street in Warwick. Hours are Monday through Friday 10 am to 4 pm. Cash only please. To place an advance order, call 738-0559.
