Skin cancer is the most common of all cancers; more than 600,000 Americans are affected each year, a number that is rising rapidly. It is also the easiest to cure if diagnosed and treated early. When allowed to progress, however, skin cancer can result in disfigurement and even death.

To assist the public in spotting potential skin cancers, Kent Hospital is offering a free skin screening on Thursday, May 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the hospital’s Ambulatory Surgery Center. There is no fee for the initial screening.

The program is sponsored by the hospital’s cancer program and supported by the American Academy of Dermatology. Registration is required. Please call 737-7010, extension 31857, with your name and phone number by May 15. Space is limited.
