Gas prices continue upward trend, unleaded averaging $2.80, finds AAA survey

Gasoline prices in Rhode Island are up 2 cents from last week, according to AAA Northeast.

AAA’s June 22 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.80 per gallon, up 2 cents from last week. Prices locally are 11 cents higher than a month ago. The current price is a penny more than the national average for regular unleaded of $2.79. A year ago at this time Rhode Island’s average price was 93 cents higher at $3.73.

The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 28 cents, from a low of $2.71 to a high of $2.99. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up – every trip, every time.
