Gasoline prices in Rhode Island are down 3 cents from last week, according to AAA Northeast.
AAA’s Nov. 23 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.13 per gallon, down 3 cents from last week. Prices locally are 4 cents lower than a month ago. The current price is 6 cents more than the national average for regular unleaded of $2.07. A year ago at this time Rhode Island’s average price was 82 cents higher at $2.95.
“With crude oil prices hovering at around $41 a barrel, Americans will be enjoying the lowest gas prices since 2008 as they travel this holiday week,” said Lloyd P. Albert, AAA Northeast senior vice president of Public & Government Affairs. “Given the fundamentals related to refinery output, domestic gasoline inventories and current consumer demand, we anticipate that motorists will benefit from these lower pump prices through the end of the year and beyond.”
The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 30 cents, from a low of $1.99 to a high of $2.29. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up – every trip, every time.
