Gasoline prices in Rhode Island are down two cents from last week, the first decrease since the end of March, according to AAA Northeast.

AAA’s June 29 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.78 per gallon, down two cents from last week. Prices locally are nine cents higher than a month ago. The current price is a penny more than the national average for regular unleaded of $2.77. A year ago at this time Rhode Island’s average price was 97 cents higher at $3.75.

The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 32 cents, from a low of $2.67 to a high of $2.99. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up – every trip, every time.
