George J. Messier, Jr., 68, a life long resident of Warwick, passed away September 26, 2015.

Born in Warwick, he was a loving son of George J. Messier, Sr. and the late Margaret (Caldwell) Messier. A Vietnam Veteran, George served as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force where he was an undefeated Golden Gloves champion. George worked as a pipe-fitter for Electric Boat for 42 years before retiring, due to illness, and was a member of UA Local 777. He enjoyed his time boating and fishing.

George was the father of George J. Messier, III and Kristin M. Zarlenga and her husband, David; grandfather of David Zarlenga, Jr. “DJ” and George J. Messier, IV; brother of Janet Maddalena and his twin sister, Margaret Wiggins; uncle of David, John, Michael and Billy; his companion, Nancy Boulet and their dog,“Bella.”

His funeral service will be held Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 10 am in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Ave. Burial with military honors will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours will be Wednesday 4-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to Home and Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904, and RISPCA, 186 Amaral Street, Riverside, RI 02915, will be appreciated.
