George R. Anthony, 84, died August 10, 2013, at his home in Warwick, after an extended illness.

Son of the late Virginia Lyon, he was born May 31, 1929, in Bradford, Pennsylvania. George served his country as a member of the United States Navy. He retired as a Captain in the Warwick Police Department after serving his community for 24 years.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, June B. (Lavigne) Anthony; daughter, Susan B. Richardson (Scott) of Chepachet, RI, sons, Mark R. Anthony (Maureen) of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Michael J. Anthony (Rena) of Warwick, RI, John M. Anthony (Maria) of Maynard, Massachusetts, Peter J. Anthony (Tara) of Bedford, New York; sister, Dorothy Robinson of Warwick, RI; eleven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lynn Marie Anthony; and his sister, Virginia Bowey.

All are welcome to celebrate George's life at a Mass on Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Catherine's Parish, 3252 Post Road, Warwick. Per George's request, there will be no calling hours, and a private graveside service will be held.
