Gilbert S. Ciunci, 69, of Warwick, passed away on November 4, 2012 at Massachusetts General Hospital after a hard fought battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife Mary (Walsh) Ciunci.
He was the son of the late Vincent Ciunci , he is survived by his beloved mother, Anna (Politelli) Ciunci. Gilbert was a graduate of Warwick Veterans Memorial High School and Providence College. Upon graduation, Gilbert remained at P.C. to pursue and receive a Masters Degree in History. He went on to serve his country in the Vietnam War. Upon returning from Vietnam, Gilbert taught U.S. History & Constitutional Law at Classical High School in Providence, RI. In addition, Gilbert was a serial entrepreneur and founder of a myriad of successful businesses, where he wore many hats including: restaurateur, real estate developer, marketer, consultant and owner of several successful retail establishments. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by a son Christopher, a daughter Jennifer Sapolsky; and five grandsons, Jack, Shane, Mark, Scott and Luke; and also his brothers Domenic, Vincent and Raymond.
His funeral will be held on Friday, November 9, at 9 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Peter Church, 350 Fair Street, Warwick. Visiting hours are Thursday 5-8 p.m. Burial with military honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
