To the Editor:
When people hear I'm a Girl Scout, they think of cookies, camping and crafts. But as a Girl Scout, I'm really challenged to do so many things.
One of my challenges was at Girl Scout Camp. There is an obstacle course called "High Ropes." It is 30 feet in the air! After going up the net to get to the very top – the obstacle course didn't seem so easy anymore. There were three rows with easy, medium and hard and I accidentally picked the medium course. I knew if I could find my courage, I could make it without falling. (Don't worry, we had a harness and rope so we were safe to try whichever level we wanted!)
Then came the super hard section where you had to walk on skinny ropes and platforms. I was so scared! One of my Girl Scout friends said to me, "Don't worry, I made it across and I'm the most uncoordinated person ever."
Having my Girl Scout friends encourage me to try, was all the boost I needed. After I made it across, it was time for the fun part. The zipline! We got to go with a scouting friend that was next to us. I was so afraid of the drop, I didn't go on the count of three. But when I finally felt brave enough, I went and it was so fun.
After I finished, I realized next time I go on the "High Ropes" I could do it without a problem. This built my courage and made me realize I can do anything and that's what being a Girl Scout does...it gives you the courage to be the girl you know you are and can be. And you can do anything!
I think every girl should be a Girl Scout!
