Hannah McNulty did a bit of everything for the Toll Gate girls’ basketball team during the winter. 

The soccer star shined on the court for the Titans, leading the team in both points and rebounds. 

“Her ability to play both inside and outside was huge for us,” Toll Gate head coach John Paolino said. “She’s just a tremendous athlete. I’m her basketball coach, but she could be successful in any sport she played. We would’ve been a totally different team without her.” 

Despite Toll Gate compiling just a 6-11 record in Division III, McNulty netted an impressive 15.1 points per game – more than any other player in Warwick. 

She was also excellent at distributing the ball and making the right play, setting up open shots for teammates such as Marisa Giard and Christina Barry. 

For Paolino, McNulty’s competitiveness and quiet confidence helped her stand out from other players. 

“She’s not real vocal, but she has a great work ethic and hustles every chance she gets,” Paolino said. “Every time she stepped on the court she gave 100 percent. Her competitiveness was outstanding too. She wants to be the best at what she does, no matter what sport it is.” 

The scary thing is that McNulty put up the numbers that she did while fighting through some nagging injuries following a long soccer season. 

If she was healthy for a full season, who knows what her final stat line could’ve looked like. 

“She was bothered by injuries and didn’t get into the full swing of things until the second week of January,” Paolino said. 

McNulty, who was tabbed a First Team All-State soccer player during the fall, has made a big impact on the basketball program as well. And she’ll have another opportunity to further her career accolades when she returns for her senior season in 2016-17. 

“She’ll probably go down as one of the top athletes to come out of Warwick schools,” Paolino said.
