Athlete of the Year - Wenona Alexander, Toll Gate

Wenona Alexander is this year’s Warwick Beacon Girls’ Swimmer of the Year.

As just a sophomore, Alexander established herself as one of the best swimmers in all of Division III during the 2015-16 season.

Alexander, alongside fellow sophomore Athena Sampalis, helped to lead Toll Gate to a fourth-place finish in Division III, compiling a dual meet record of 5-3 for the season.

She displayed tremendous versatility, swimming in numerous events to help pile up points for the Titans.

Her best individual event was the 500 freestyle, as she earned First Team All-Division accolades in that category.

Alexander swam on the 200 freestyle relay too, which also earned a First Team All-Division nod.

Her list of awards didn’t stop there, though.

Her efforts in the 100 butterfly earned Alexander Second Team All-Division honors as well.

The good news for Head Coach Michael Seidenberg and the Titans is that Alexander will be back for two more seasons to build off of her already impressive career.

With a young but experienced roster returning next winter, the Titans should have a good shot to win the Division III dual meet crown if they don’t move up a division due to consolidation.
