Thomas Gregory Gray (“Greg”) has been installed as the organist/choir director of Asbury United Methodist Church. Greg is a “Cradle Methodist” born in the Northern Georgia Conference. Greg has served in various leadership capacities at the church, district and annual conference levels. He has served on the Stewardship and Administrative Council Committees, as chair of the Staff Parish Relations Committee, and is a Certified Lay Leader. At the district level, Greg has served as Director of Lay Service Ministries, Connectional Ministries, and on the Board of Laity. At the Annual Conference level, Greg has served on the Worship Committee and on the Leadership Advocacy Team, amongst others.
Greg holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Speech Communication and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music, both from the University of Georgia. He holds a Master’s of Divinity Degree from the Chandler School of Theology in Atlanta, Ga., and is pursuing a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Boston University School of Theology.
Greg’s music experience is varied and extensive. Greg holds a Professional Certification in Music Ministry from the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry and has held the position of Director of Music at Haywood Memorial UMC, Clarkston UMC, New Liberty UMC, and Mount Pleasant UMC. He was choir director/accompanist at Mount Vernon Christian Church and at several other churches. He is currently serving as a Reconciling Ministries Network Field Organizer, a Christian and United Methodist organization that strives for the inclusion, justice, and love of all people.
