He is one of the greatest guitarists ever, and he is coming to Rhode Island.

Robert Cray has won five Grammy Awards out of 15 nominations. He’s sold millions of records worldwide, and has hosted thousands of sold out performances. Rock/blues icon Robert Cray is considered “one of the greatest guitarists of his generation.” Cray’s hits include “Smoking Gun” and “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark” as well as “Right Next Door” and “Nothin’ but a Woman.”

Rolling Stone Magazine, in its April 2011 issue, credits Cray with reinventing the blues with his “distinct razor sharp guitar playing” that “introduced a new generation of mainstream rock fans to the language and form of the blues” with the release of his Strong Persuader album in 1986. Since then, Cray has gone on to record 16 Billboard charting studio albums and has written or performed with everyone from Eric Clapton to Stevie Ray Vaughan, from Bonnie Raitt to John Lee Hooker. Inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2011 at the age of 57, he is one of the youngest living legends to receive that prestigious honor.

Robert Cray performs at the Park Theatre in Cranston Saturday November 21 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at www.ParkTheatreRI.com, at the Park Theatre Box Office 848 Park Avenue, Cranston or by phone at 467-7275.
