(Funny sequel for kids)

I can’t tell a lie. Joyce took a nap during this funny sequel that has more going for it for kids than adults.

The sequel follows up on Dracula’s daughter, Mavis, who has married her dorky human boyfriend and given birth to Dennis, a redheaded moppet.

The big question: Will Dennis turn out to be a vampire or a human?

Grampa Dracula hopes for another vampire, with the deciding factor being whether or not the kid grows fangs.

Adam Sandler’s voice and style of humor comes through as Dracula. He surrounds himself with his buddies: Kevin James (Frankenstein, Frank for short), the wolf (Steve Buscemi), the Invisible Man (David Spade), and other comedians. They take Dennis on a road trip to teach him how to be a scary vampire, while the parents go off to visit his human grandparents.

There’s lots of action for the kids, but not enough humor for adults, as the two groups go off to cause chaos. The numerous creatures are well drawn and unique. There’s lots of color and action. The highlight is the appearance of the great-grandfather, the recognizable voice of the one and only Mel Brooks.

Rated PG, with some moments that could scare the very young and others that might put older ones to sleep.
