Hawks and ’Canes remain undefeated

The Hendricken and Warwick Vets baseball teams are sitting atop the standings in their respective divisions.

The Hawks hosted previously 4-0 Lincoln on Tuesday and breezed to a 9-2 win.

Hendricken broke open a 1-0 game in the bottom of the fourth with six runs to make it 7-0. The Hawks never looked back, adding two more runs in the fifth en route to the lopsided victory.

Junior shortstop John Willette paced the 11-hit outburst with three of his own.

Senior southpaw Mike McCaffrey continued his stellar start to the 2015 campaign, fanning six Lions’ hitters to pick up the victory.

Vets, like Hendricken, hosted a previously unbeaten team on Tuesday, as well.

The ’Canes also registered 11 hits in a 10-1 win over Scituate, which came into the game at 3-0.

An eight-run fifth inning helped Vets to the victory.

At the plate, Austin Lamaire and Jeremy Batista each had two hits and two RBI apiece, while David DeFusco picked up the victory on the bump, with David Simmons closing it out.

The Hawks are now one of two undefeated teams in Division I at 5-0. Portsmouth is the only other unbeaten team in D-I with a record of 3-0.

Vets is now at 4-0 in D-II, second to only Mount St. Charles, which is currently 5-0.
