Embodying the clean-cut image of their day, Herman’s Hermits, led by lead-singer Peter Noone, achieved international fame rivaled only by The Beatles on their way to selling more than 52 million albums worldwide and staking claim to 14 certified gold singles. While the band has gone through changes over the years, one constant has always remained – the presence of Noone.

On Friday, Nov. 7, Herman’s Hermits starring Peter Noone will bring their timeless hits and English pop sound to the historic Park Theatre in Cranston for a special concert event. Tickets are currently on sale.

Noone, already one of Britain’s most popular entertainers thanks to playing “Stanley Fairclough” in the long-running soap opera “Coronation Street” as a child, joined Herman’s Hermits in 1963 as the group’s youngest member. As “Herman,” the band’s lead singer, Noone’s fame reached near-unprecedented levels of international success.

By 1965, Herman’s Hermits were the top-selling pop act in the United States and sat atop the music charts in multiple countries. They were nominated for two Grammy awards for their hit, “Mrs. Brown, You’ve Got a Lovely Daughter,” and an avalanche of classics would soon follow, including “Silhouettes,” “Can’t You Hear My Heartbeat,” “Wonderful World,” “There’s a Kind of Hush” and “Dandy,” to name a few.

After leaving the band in 1971, Noone went on to record several solo singles, before rejoining Herman’s Hermits. Now representing the only original member of the band, Noone leads the current incarnation of Herman’s Hermits for more than 200 concerts each year.

In addition to his success with Herman’s Hermits, the photogenic Noone has graced the cover of nearly every international publication, including Time magazine. He’s performed on hundreds of television shows and appeared with such luminaries as Ed Sullivan, Jackie Gleason and Dean Martin. He was cast as the engaging “Duke of Cheshire” in ABC’s musical version of The Canterville Ghost and also portrayed the title role in Hallmark Hall of Fame’s Pinocchio.

Herman’s Hermits starring Peter Noone will perform at 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7. Tickets are $45 and $55 and are available by calling the Park’s Box Office at 467-7275 or online at www.ParkTheatreRI.com. The Park Theatre is located at 848 Park Ave. in Cranston. Free parking is available for all shows.
