To the Editor:

Donald Trump is leading in the polls because he has been on national TV for decades and he has a loyal following of three or four million fans nationwide who support his every move. 

His 30 percent support in the polls and the primaries is based on votes from his loyal fans and crossover Democrats.  He is not getting support from dissatisfied establishment Republicans.   Even though Trump has never produced any plans that explain how he would accomplish any of the goals he has set for himself, the mainstream media seems to have ‘con’fidence in his ability to achieve these goals. 

Trump’s crass and deceitful behavior on the campaign trail is lauded by the media as good campaign tactics.  Trump recently said that Mitt Romney lost the 2012 presidential election because he ran a terrible campaign.  However, neither the media nor Trump provided any specific examples of Romney’s poor campaign tactics.  Obama’s false statements about health care, Benghazi and Candy Crowley’s help in the presidential debates might have helped Romney if the public had been informed about them by the media. 

The media should be pointing out that as Governor of Massachusetts, Romney worked with Democrats to produce the best health care system and the best education system in the United States.  As head of the 2002 Winter Olympics, Romney worked with the leaders of hundreds of foreign nations during the 9/11 crisis to produce the most successful Winter Olympics in history. As a pastor in his church, Romney has worked with the elderly, the poor and the disadvantaged for long periods of time.   In 2012, Romney was the best candidate for President of the United States.
