A Cranston man has been indicted by the statewide grand jury on two counts of first-degree child molestation, according to the office of Attorney General Peter Kilmartin,
Christopher Newsham, 37, of 547 Laurel Hill Ave., is facing the charges after the grand jury reported out a secret indictment, Kilmartin announced Monday.
Prosecutors allege that between Aug. 15, 1991 and Aug. 15, 1992, Newsham molested a person 14 years of age or younger. He allegedly molested a second person in the same age group between March 6, 1995 and March 6, 1997.
An investigation began in July of this year, Kilmartin’s office said, when the Rhode Island State Police Major Crimes Unit received a complaint.
Newsham was arrested on Friday, April 11, and arraigned in Providence County Superior Court, with bail set at $20,000 with surety. He was additionally ordered to have no contact with the alleged victims.
Newsham’s next scheduled court appearance is June 13.

Seriously? You are reporting something that may or may or may not have happened 22 yrs ago ? Where are the names, ages, gender of the accusers? Certainly by now they are all adults. Why should one man's name be slandered without the names of his accusers?
