To the Editor:

We hear and read so many negative things about young people today that I thought it might be refreshing to learn what a 17-year-old is doing with his time and talent.

Nicholas Peladeau, a senior at Pilgrim High School, is the director of the musical “Fame Jr.,” to be performed at Aldrich Junior High School on March 27 and 28 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 (children 3 and under are free) and will be available at the door. Approximately 30 to 40 members of the school drama clbu are participating in some manner.

I’d like to give you some background about Nicholas. He attended Norwood Elementary School grades K through 6. as early as kindergarten, Nicholas showed a high interest in art. While at Norwood he was encouraged by the art teacher, Lisa Gallo Rajotte. At Aldrich he joined the drama club and in the eighth grade performed in “Annie.” In his freshman year at Pilgrim he was involved with the play “Cinderella.” Miss Brown, the choral and drama club director at Aldrich, invited Nicholas to come back to help the students in the club.

Nicholas worked in all phases of theater – set design, sound (music and microphones), lighting, wherever he was needed. He has chosen to complete his senior project on his current work as director of “Fame Jr.” Even with the many hours devoted to art, Nicholas has maintained high honors in his subjects and will graduate tenth in his class.

Nicholas has been accepted at Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and also at the New Hampshire Institute of Art. Whichever he chooses will certainly foster his talent in the art field.
