“JERSEY BOYS”-third time is the best

I saw “Jersey Boys” for the third time at PPAC this week, and if it comes around next year, I’ll go see this Tony and Grammy winner again

Having grown up with the music of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, I still know every word to every classic song.

This time around, the set has been enhanced a bit and the show is as fresh as could be.

Much of this is due to Aaron De Jesus who is perfect as Valli. He looks like him, has his moves, and if you close your eyes you’ll see Valli singing those great songs, like “Sherry”, “Big Girls Don’t Cry”, Oh What a Night”, “Walk Like a Man”, and the emotional “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You”, which had the opening night crowd on its feet cheering long and loud.

It’s a good story about the not-so-innocent boys from Jersey who ride to fame, paying a price for their success. The dialogue is crisp, funny, and at times profane.

The music is fabulous, especially to falsetto voice of De Jesus, who sings his heart out.

“Jersey Boys” is at PPAC through the weekend and tickets are available.

If you have never seen the show, you won’t see a better version. If you have seen it, you’ll want to see it again. It doesn’t get any better than this.

Call 421-ARTS for reservations.
