Toll Gate senior Courtney Jacobsen started her final outdoor track season as a Titan on a good note on Saturday.
Jacobsen claimed the hammer throw title at the Knights of Columbus Relays at City Stadium in Providence with a toss of 176 feet, one inch. The title-clinching throw edged Classical’s Lysah Russell by more than six feet.
Jacobsen and the Titans were set to compete in a meet at La Salle Academy on Monday, but results were unavailable at press time.
Hawks, Pats win relay titles
The 4x1 mile races at the Knights of Columbus Relays were dominated by Warwick schools.
In the Division I race, Hendricken claimed first, as its team of seniors Avery Ingegneri, Mike Kiernan and Tom McMahon and junior Jeffrey Venter outpaced the field with a time of 18 minutes, 25 seconds.
In Division II, Pilgrim emerged victorious, as well. Its team of Joseph Tocco, Eddie Cascella, Kevin Dusseault and Brandon Lawton crossed the finish line in a winning time of 20 minutes, 32.8 seconds.
Pilgrim was scheduled to travel to La Salle for a meet on Monday, while Hendricken was set to host Warwick Vets and Mt. Pleasant. Results from both meets were unavailable at press time.
