James J. White, Jr., 89, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2015 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Claire A. (Joyal) White for 49 years.

Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late James J. Sr. and Margaret (McClurg ) White. Mr. White was a World War II Navy veteran and retired as a Carpenter’s First Mate. He then worked as a self employed carpenter and builder, retiring in 1991. Mr. White enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, teaching them the fine art of woodworking. He was a former member of the Warwick and Pawtucket Lodges of Elks.

Mr. White was the loving father of Jo-Ann Fielding (Kevin J.), Judy C. Suarse (Charles V.), James J White III (Nancy D.), Jeffery J. White (Jacqueline L.), Jerilyn M. Tameo (John J.), and Jason P. White (Diane S.); brother of Rita T. White and the late Raymond E. White, Mary M. Fields, Kathleen L. Lang, and Ruth L. Jacques. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

His funeral will be held Thursday, December 24 at 9 a.m. from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave, Warwick with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Benedict Church, Beach Ave. Burial in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours, Wednesday, 4-8 p.m.
