John E. Medeiros, 94, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2015. He was the beloved husband of the late Lydia C. (Rapoza) Medeiros.
Born in the Fox Point section of Providence, he was a son of the late Joao and Rosalina (Rapozo) Medeiros. Mr. Medeiros was employed at Imperial Knife and Bird & Son as a machine tender before retiring. A World War II Army veteran, he served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He was a communicant of St. Peter Church in Warwick and a member of the East Providence Knights of Columbus.
He was the loving father of David Medeiros of Hamilton, Virginia, and Paul Medeiros of Cumberland and the late John E. Medeiros; grandfather of Kenneth, Kaitlin, John David and Matthew; great-grandfather of Olivia; brother of the late Joseph Medeiros, Mary Leite, Rosalina Pereira, Izaura Tavares.
His funeral will be held Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 9 a.m. from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Peter Church, Fair Street. Burial with military honors in Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visiting hours will held Monday 5-8 p.m.
