John Marchant, Sr.

John Marchant, Sr., 90, of Warwick, passed peacefully June 17, 2013, at the West View Nursing Home. He was the husband of Maureen A. (Deuso) Marchant for the last 45 years. He was also the husband of the late Catherine (Halligan) Marchant.

Born in Providence, a son of the late William L. and Louise (Sandager) Marchant. Mr. Marchant was a United States. Army veteran of World War II serving in the European Theater. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his valor in wartime. For more than forty years, Mr. Marchant worked in the automobile industry, working for several auto dealers until his retirement in 1985.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by 9 children: John Marchant of Scituate, Karen A. Blanche of St. Augustine, Florida, Geoffrey A. Marchant of Wakefield, William Marchant of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Stephen P. Marchant of Long Beach, California, Robert D. Marchant of Mesa, Arizona, Thomas E. Marchant of Cranston, Peter A. Marchant of Warwick, and Charles L. Marchant of Bassett, Virginia; sixteen grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. He was brother of the late William Marchant and Louise Upper.

Calling hours are omitted and burial, with full military honors, in Rhode Island Veterans’ Cemetery, Exeter, will be at the family’s convenience.
