Joyce L. Carvell, RN, 83 died Saturday, October 24, 2015. She was the wife of the late Norman T. Carvell.
Born in Portland, Maine, a daughter of the late John and Harriett (McCormack) Frates, she has been a resident of Warwick for 48 years. She was a graduate of the University of Maine, School of Nursing, and received her Master’s Degree in Health Administration from the University of Rhode Island. She started her career at Maine Medical Center and had worked as an instructor at CCRI where she worked for 30 years. She retired as an Assistant Professor of Nursing in 1999.
She was the beloved mother of Kim M. Carvell, Wendy C. Platt, Stacie A. Carvell and Marcy J. D’Alfonso. She is also survived by seven grandchildren.
Her funeral will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Peter Church, Fair Street, Warwick. Burial will be private. Visiting hours Wednesday, 5-8 p.m.
