Kathleen “Kaye” (Cotter) Drywa, age 82, of Mill Cove Road, Warwick, died at home on Sunday, February 1, 2015. She was the beloved wife of Augustus “Red” Drywa for 58 years.

Born in Dell Rapids, South Dakota, the daughter of the late Joseph and Regina (Collins) Cotter, she attended St. Mary School in Dell Rapids and South Dakota Teachers University in Madison, S.D. Kaye taught fourth grade in South Dakota until her marriage. She and her husband moved to Rhode Island in 1956. Kaye was employed as a teachers’ aide in the Warwick Public Schools until her retirement in 2011. She was a communicant of St. Benedict Church in Warwick for 44 years, and a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of Warwick Council # 2295 Knights of Columbus. She was a volunteer for Rhode Island Special Olympics.

Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons and two daughters, Mark J. Drywa and his wife, Debra of Warwick, Paul J. Drywa of Warwick, Beth Ann Drywa and her companion, Teddy of Cranston, Todd J. Drywa and his wife, Lauri of Uxbridge, Massachusetts, and Erin Kate Cabral and her husband, David of Fayetteville, North Carolina; a sister, Sister Suzanne Cotter, PBVM of Sioux Falls, SD; four granddaughters, one great-granddaughter, and two great-grandsons. She was the sister of the late Rosemary Dieltz, Francis Jarchow, and Joseph Cotter.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, February 6, at 9 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Benedict Church, 135 Beach Avenue, Warwick. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Burial will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
