Children between 6 and 14 years old who love Lego or robots, like to work puzzles and ask questions and build things are invited to the Idea Lab at the Warwick Public Library Aug. 20 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

They will learn about the youth robotics programs First Lego League for 9-14-year-olds and Jr. First Lego League for 6-9-year-olds. These programs have been introducing children to science, technology, engineering and math through robotics since 2002, and currently nearly 800 children participate on over 80 teams statewide.

This free information session will detail how to start a team, whether at a school, a community organization or in your neighborhood, church or home. There will be demonstrations of Lego NXT and EV3 robots on a First Lego League game field and a presentation about the FLL and Jr. FLL seasons and what teams do.

These events are free and open to the public. They are information sessions, not hands-on robotics workshop. Children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult caregiver.
