Warwick author Les Rolston will talk about his latest book, “Home of the Brave: In Their Own Words – Immigrant Soldiers Who Received the Medal of Honor During the Civil War,” on Oct. 23 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Warwick Public Library.
Digging into U.S. Medal of Honor records, Rolston pulls out the stories of heroic immigrant soldiers, from their childhoods overseas through their battlefield feats in the Civil War.
Rolston’s first book, “Lost Soul: A Confederate Soldier In New England,” received citations from the Rhode Island House of Representatives, a commendation from former United States Senator Claiborne Pell, and the Jefferson Davis Medal, the United Daughters of the Confederacy’s highest award. His second book, “Long Time Gone,” chronicles the experiences of Union soldier Elisha Rhodes and Confederate soldier James Sheldon, both from Pawtuxet Village, R.I.
All three of Rolston’s books will be available for purchase and autographing.
This event is free and open to all.
