The Warwick Public Library is helping preschoolers get ready to read with its 1000 Books Before Kindergarten challenge.
The library says the best way to prepare a preschooler for reading is by reading to them. Hearing others read is how kids learn that letters make sounds, sounds make words, and words make stories.
Drop by the Children’s Library to pick up a log to track your first 100 books. Fill it up, and bring it back for a sticker and a new log for your next 100 stories. On Monday, Dec. 7 at 10 a.m., come for a 1000 Books Kick-off Celebration with a Books are Wings book giveaway and a visit by Maisy Mouse.
It only takes five books a week to get your 1-year-old ready for kindergarten. Don’t miss your chance to start reading now.
For more information call 739-5440 x221. The library is located at 600 Sandy Lane. This event is free and open to all.
