Straight from the Jazz Mecca of New York City, Live at Birdland Featuring the Birdland Big Band is set to take the stage at the historic Park Theatre in Cranston on Sunday, Jan. 27. Music lovers are sure to be delighted by the bold sounds of this big band comprised of world-class musicians from Broadway shows and renowned touring companies.
Live at Birdland features the The Birdland Big Band conducted by Tommy Igoe in a setting designed to recreate the ambiance and experience of a night at the world famous Birdland. This dynamic ensemble provides an unforgettable musical event that goes beyond the traditional and sets a new standard for the 21st century jazz orchestra.
Tommy Igoe began drumming at the age of 2 and has since traveled the world with Art Garfunkel, Blood Sweat and Tears, Dave Grusin, Stanley Jordan and the New York Voices. He also served as the principal drummer and conductor of “The Lion King” on Broadway. In 2006, Igoe created the Birdland Big Band. Today, the group holds a wildly popular weekly musical residency in New York City.
