Louis Colucci, of Deborah Road, Warwick, passed away peacefully at home on April 14, 2014, with his son by his side. He was the husband of the late Anna C. (Mayo) Colucci.

Lou was born in Providence on September 7, 1919, the son of the late Vincenzo and Clementina (Ruosi) Colucci. Lou worked for Gorham Manufacturing, and Pratt & Whitney, retiring from Gorham in 1983.

As a young man, during the Great Depression, Lou was in the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC), and worked in national parks in Vermont and Wyoming, which he enjoyed very much. Lou was an Army combat veteran of World War II, serving as a PFC with the US 1st Division, Reconnaissance Company, 634th Tank Destroyer Battalion. He was an M8 Reconnaissance Car Gunner. He saw action in five major campaigns, including Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, (Hurtgen Forest/Battle of the Bulge), the Rhineland, and Central Europe. He was into Czechoslovakia at the war’s end. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, and the European Campaign Medal with a Silver Service Star.

Lou was the beloved father of, and hero to, his son “Jimmy” (James J. Colucci); and was the brother of the late Paul “Ralph” Colucci, Joseph Colucci, and Mary DiDonato.

A private service, with full military honors, will be held at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. www.barrettandcotter.com
