(Delightful Disney animated film)

Disney Studios has created another delightful, colorful feature cartoon with a heroine that will warm your heart.

Auli'i Cravalho is the voice of Moana, princess of a South Pacific island who is drawn to the sea. Her father warns her not to go beyond the reef, but encouraged by her grandmother she sails into danger to return the stolen heart of a goddess and bring peace and prosperity back to her island. Moana encounters the demi-god Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson), who has stolen the heart, and the two take off on a sea adventure, battling all kinds of sea creatures to reach their destination.

While the movie is long (nearly two hours), the kids in the Friday matinee sat quietly and cheered at the film's conclusion.

Moana makes a wonderful role model for young girls, and their parents are sure to be pleased with the positive messages. Parents will also enjoy the music, South Pacific history and traditions, and gorgeous color of the plush islands. Kids will love Moana's rooster pal and the come-to-life tattoos covering Maui's huge body. There are a few lovely songs along the way, creating a soothing feeling.

Rated PG, with a few creatures that may frighten the little ones.
