Manning Plumbing:‘Whip that drip!’

Posted

Winter has arrived and so has the cold weather that has driven us inside. With all the holiday rush finally settling down, we are slowly getting back to old routines - including lots of time spent in the kitchen! With more friends and family still around with their piles of dirty dishes and laundry needs, all our in-home utility use is on the rise, and with that comes an increased strain on our plumbing systems. Master Plumber Mike Manning of Manning Plumbing warns that this is the time when he sees lots (and lots) of plumbing needs, including clogged and backed-up drains.

Plumber Michael Manning advises: "Now is the time to take a good look at your household drains. Make sure you check all of them to check that water is freely flowing. Many of the drains we rooter turn up soap, hair and quite frankly, 'mulched' food stuffs as the clogging culprits. A good cleaning of the drains to get a nice rapid flow will save you from a major inconvenience and more costly bill later down the road."

One of the biggest problems that arise in the kitchen, especially with a household of hungry diners, is garbage disposals back-ups. Manning warns that if you are a regular garbage disposal user, keep your refuse to small food items that can fit easily through the strainer receptacle. When homeowners push food stuffs or other items such as heavy grease, bones ~ even paper towels ~ down into the disposal, the consequences can be very problematic. Call Manning Plumbing today for a drain cleaning and avoid a drain disaster!

At this time of year, Manning also encourages his customers to check expiration dates on their water heaters and to look for "brownish" hot water, a sure sign that their water heater is in trouble! Don't be caught with a busted water heater this holiday season - keep Mike Manning's number on your "speed dial"!
