Margaret A. (Murray) Phillips, “Mike” or “Gramma,” age 88, of Bentley Road, Warwick, died peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, June 23, 2016, at Kent County Memorial Hospital. Margaret was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Stanley W. Phillips.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Joseph J. and Anne L. (Tierney) Murray, she lived in Warwick for most of her life. She was a 1946 graduate of Aldrich High School in Warwick, and a 1976 graduate of the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, VA. After high school, “Mike” worked at Rhode Island Hospital’s Heart Station as an EKG technician. Mike then worked for the United States Navy in Quonset Point, RI, and Norfolk, VA, where she retired as a Supervisory Management Analyst. She was also a past president of the Narragansett Bay Toast Mistresses Club.

Margaret leaves a daughter, Dianne L. Stebbins and her husband, Henry Stebbins, of Cranston; three grandchildren, Mary-Ellen L. Ide of Warwick, Russell C. Ide and his wife, Jennifer, of Richmond, and Christine H. Gendreau and her husband, Michael, of Warwick; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Grace E. Murray. She was also the grandmother of the late Kathleen M. (Ide) Frink, and the sister of the late Joseph J. Murray, Jr. and Robert J. Murray.

Her funeral will be held on Monday, June 27, at 9 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Peter church, 350 Fair Street, Warwick.
