Marilyn C. (Underhill) Cornell, 84, died peacefully Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at the Scandinavian Home. She was the wife of the late William H. Cornell, Jr.
Born in Sommerville, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late Herbert J. and Norine (Hagerty) Underhill, she had been a resident of Warwick for most of her life. Mrs. Cornell was a talented seamstress and was devoted to her family. She was the former Queen Mother of the Goddesses of the Red Hat and a member of the Warwick Sewer Community.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Brian W. Cornell, her daughter, Kathleen J. Gazzola and husband, Anthony; grandmother of Dr. Anthony J. Gazzola, Jr., his wife, Kathleen, and Daniel W. Gazzola; great-grandmother of Eliana Rose Gazzola and Dominic A. Gazzola; sister of Dr. Herbert J. Underhill, Jr. and Norine J. Keenan.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, December 6, at 9:30 a.m. from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Peter Church, Fair Street. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, East Greenwich. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 p.m.
