McAuley Ministries has announced that Mary R. Moore has been appointed Administrator of McAuley House, a Providence-based meal site and outreach center of McAuley Ministries. Moore assumed her new role on Feb. 16.

As administrator, Moore manages the daily operations of McAuley House while overseeing kitchen and outreach services staff. She is responsible for coordinating volunteers, arranging meal serving visits for corporate “Lunch on Us” sponsors, and supporting research and grant reporting requirements. She also provides ongoing support to McAuley House guests and coordinates all special initiatives, such as the organization’s “Adopt-A-Family” program.

Moore first became involved with McAuley House as a weekly kitchen volunteer during the summer of 2014. In October of last year, she was asked to take on the role of part-time administrative support to assist the organization with the delivery of programs and services.

“Mary is an incredibly passionate advocate for the people she works with; I can’t think of anyone more dedicated to helping others,” Don Wolfe, executive director of McAuley Ministries, said in a statement. “Her experience as an educator, counselor and manager, and her resolve to improve the lives of those in need in a compassionate and respectful manner will benefit everyone at McAuley House.”

Moore has spent her career in the private nonprofit setting, providing day and residential services to adults with developmental disabilities as program director and later as director of adult services for Adeline LaPlante Memorial Center in Wakefield. She is also a regular and special education substitute teacher in the Warwick Public Schools system.

A resident of Warwick, Moore holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary and Special Education and a Master’s Degree in Agency Counseling from Rhode Island College.
