Mary Virginia Cobleigh

Mary Virginia Cobleigh, known as Virginia, passed away peacefully at Genesis Pheasantwood Center in Peterborough, New Hampshire on April 7, 2014.

She was born in North Stonington, Connecticut on April 5, 1922, the daughter of Arthur M. Cobleigh and Ella (Burgess) Cobleigh. Virginia was a long time resident of Rhode Island. She had graduated from Bryant College in 1940 and spent most of her career as a bookkeeper with NATCO products in West Warwick. Virginia had been a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Providence, a Sunday school teacher and Education Deaconess for over 20 years. She was also a Past Matron of Pawtuxet Chapter #16 Order of the Eastern Star. While residing at West Bay Manor, Virginia was a great volunteer there, and at the nearby public library and senior center in Warwick.

Survivors include her eldest niece, Audrey B. Carvalho and her former husband, Richard S. Carvalho, MD of Peterborough, NH, and her niece Claudia Shaw and her husband, Alan Shaw of Coventry; one great-nephew and two great-nieces; and their families. Her sister Constance C. Bennett, her brother Arthur B. Cobleigh; and her nephew Malcolm W. Bennett, all predeceased Virginia.

Memorial donations may be made to Genesis Pheasant Wood Center, Activities Fund, 50 Pheasant Road, Peterborough, NH 03458, or to Calvary Baptist Church, 747 Broad Street, Providence, RI 02907. A private family service will be held later this spring upon internment at the North Burial Ground in Providence, RI. The Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Jaffrey, NH and the Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home and Crematory of West Warwick, RI are is assisting with arrangements.
