Warwick resident Melanie Bertoldi was recently honored by Rhode Island Governor Gina M. Raimondo and Serve Rhode Island for her volunteer work with the Neighborhood Alliance of Pawtucket.

Part of National Volunteer Recognition Week, the 2016 Jefferson Awards ceremony honored the outstanding work of volunteers across Rhode Island. Bertoldi and other recipients were recognized at the event, which was held on April 11 in the State Room of the State House in Providence. Gov. Raimondo presented honorees with a certificate commending their contributions to their communities.

As part of her work for the Neighborhood Alliance of Pawtucket, Bertoldi participated in a coat drive, tree planting, and park cleanup. Later this month, she will be completing field training, taught by the University of Rhode Island’s Watershed Watch program, to become a volunteer water monitor for Providence’s Moshassuck River.

Bertoldi is a 2012 alumna of Northeastern University (Boston, Mass.), where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and a minor degree in Italian. In college, she worked at Billboard and Pageant Media, both based in New York City. Additionally, she served as a journalist for the New England Newspaper and Press Association. Bertoldi has been employed with Newberry Public Relations and Marketing, Inc. since 2014.
