To the Editor:
The Greenwood Terrace Tenant Association decided to give me a surprise birthday party on January 14 as it would be my 102nd birthday. The president of the Association, Rosanne Andrews, and treasurer Nancy DeShaies planned it all. They sent out invitations to every resident and to several dignitaries in the City of Warwick. Representative David Bennett presented me with two documents of proclamation, one from Mayor Avedisian and one from the State of Rhode Island. Steve McAllister from the Warwick City Council also had a beautiful proclamation about my life’s history. John Howell of the Warwick Beacon told the story in the newspaper.
It became the celebration of my life, a most memorable gift I will treasure always. Approximately 30 residents came to this celebration in my honor.
When it was all over and I was in my apartment I started to reminisce about my life. Thinking about my beautiful mom, my terrific dad, my five sisters and two brothers who are all gone now, and the one love of my life, my husband.
Working for MetLife Insurance was a blessing as it was because of them I was relocated to Warwick. My son Peter and I are so happy to be here in Rhode Island. Thank you all so much.
