New boat ramp at Stillhouse Cove

Posted

A ceremonial ribbon cutting was held last week for the new boat ramp at Stillhouse Cove in Edgewood. Mayor Allan Fung, Barbara Rubine of the Edgewood Waterfront Preservation Association (EWPA), Department of Public Works Director Ken Mason and others were on hand for the occasion. The old ramp had been deteriorating for years, and sustained additional damage during Superstorm Sandy. The new ramp cost $110,000, and the city, with guidance from the EWPA, was able to secure a 75-percent matching grant administered through the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management. Commonwealth Engineers and Consultants Inc. performed engineering and permitting work, and A. Difazio Construction Inc. was the contractor. (Beacon photo)
