New cop keeps family tradition going

Congratulations are in order for lifelong Warwick resident William Vickers, Jr., as he graduated from Rhode Island Municipal Police Academy Dec. 19, and is now a member of the North Providence Police Department. At a recent ceremony, he received the “Highway Safety” award. Vickers, 23, attended Bishop Hendricken High School, as well as the Community College of Rhode Island, and is continuing his education at Johnson & Wales University, where he is studying Law Enforcement. His parents, William Sr. and Rebecca, are proud of his accomplishments, especially since he’s continuing a family tradition: he is the third generation of officers in his family. (Submitted photo)
