Noel C. Nelson, 65, of Port Orange, FL passed away suddenly December 11, 2015 due to injuries sustained in a traffic accident in Florida on December 11, 2015. He was the son of the late Carl & Mary (Dyer) Nelson of Cranston, Rhode Island.

He was a longtime resident of Rhode Island before relocating to Florida in 2013 after the death of his wife, Diane. He graduated from Cranston High School West in 1969. An electrician by trade, he was last employed by Toray Plastics of North Kingstown. Known for his big heart, he was always there for his friends and family. Noel enjoyed car racing (especially NASCAR), and he was a sports fan - always supporting the Patriots and other New England area teams. Noel also enjoyed music and motorcycles - working on them, riding them, or building them. He was particularly proud of his ability to build items from scratch, including a fully functional, wooden scooter he once built with his father, based solely on drawings from Popular Mechanic. Supportive and always in a good mood, Noel's kindness, generosity, laughter, and smile will be greatly missed by his family and loved ones.

Survived by two daughters, Karla Knight of Port Orange, FL and Andrea Drummond of Jackson, TN, he also leaves behind two sisters, Jill Daponte of Cranston, RI and Jacqueline MacDonald of Narragansett, RI in addition to two step-children, Erin Clark and Derek Briggs and nine grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 7 p.m. at St. David’s on the Hill, 200 Meshanticut Valley Parkway, Cranston, RI.
