Norman J. Saucier

Norman J. Saucier, age 96, of Rock Avenue, Warwick, died on Thursday, February 19, 2015, at Kent County Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Arlene R. (Fitzpatrick) Saucier.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Ernest and Bertha (Chartier) Saucier, he lived in Warwick for most of his life. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. Norman was known as the “Mayor of Rock Avenue.” Mr. Saucier was employed at Bulova Watch Co. in Providence for 43 years, retiring as a foreman in 1980. He was also a baker at the Italian Bread Box in the Conimicut section of Warwick for 20 years.

He is survived by four sons, Norman J. “Butch” Saucier, Jr. and his wife, Joyce of Hope, Gary N. Saucier and his wife, Michelle of Florida, Mark Saucier and his wife, Renee of Warwick, and Scot Saucier and his wife, Maria of Warwick; a daughter, Lori A. Musk and her husband, Neal of West Warwick; a son-in-law, Marty Emeno of Warwick; two brothers, Ernest Masse and Roger Masse, both of West Warwick; a sister, Lorraine Deming of Coventry; twenty-seven grandchildren, forty-six great-grandchildren, and twelve great-great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late Sandra Brouillard, Donna L. Emeno, and Stephen G. Saucier; and the brother of the late Geraldine Masse, Yvonne Reed, and Joseph Russell Daley.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 27, at 11 a.m. at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Community, 84 Exeter Road, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited, and may visit on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick.
